Mkuki Na Nyota and Ubongo launch Akili and Me and Ubongo Kids Bi-lingual Books

By ubongo | Akili and Me, Blog, Ubongo Kids | Comments are Closed | 25 December, 2017 | 1

That’s exactly what we want to give all our viewers across Africa – the opportunity to read, to learn and to become an empowered and educated generation.

To do this, we’ve joined forces with the independent publishing house, Mkuki na Nyota, to publish a series of four Ubongo Kids books, and four Akili and Me books

Mkuki na Nyota are based in Dar es Salaam, and specialise in creating ‘relevant, affordable and beautiful’ books. Working with them has enabled us to stay true to our ‘home-grown’ African roots, producing our original, African stories right here in Tanzania.

As our first contribution to the world of print books, we have decided to publish all of our 8 stories as bi-lingual books. This means that each page has both the English and Kiswahili text, making them perfect for increasing vocabulary or improving English (or Kiswahili!) reading skills.

Adapted from our TV series, the Ubongo Kids books re-visit some of our most popular stories, exploring a selection of math topics including multiplication, addition, and odd and even numbers. They give kids the chance to bring their favourite characters home and to grow their love of reading AND math through funny and thought-provoking tales. Each book also features a series of comprehension worksheets at the back to enhance learning and engagement.

Our Akili and Me books are also adapted from our hit TV show. With simple language and colourful pictures, they are perfect for story-time and introducing little ones to the wonderful world of reading! To help your child get the most out of each story, the books also include fun comprehension activities, so don’t be afraid to let them draw in the book! After all, scribbling is a necessary step in learning to write!

Available at stores all through Tanzania:

Akili and Me, Cartoon series, Cartoons, Childhood cartoon, Digital learning, Early childhood education, East African cartoon, education in Africa, English Language Learning, Love to learn, MKUKI NA NYOTA, Swahili cartoon, Ubongo, Ubongo kids
