WHO has teamed Ubongo Kids, Africa-based children’s education and entertainment producer, to launch ‘Will you wash your hands with Akili?‘. The sing-a-long video by Akili and Me shows children how to wash their hands to stay safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the United Nations, school closures in 85 countries to contain the spread of Covid-19 are disrupting the education of over 776 million learners globally. Tanzania, Kenya, South Africa, Rwanda, Ghana, Senegal and other countries across sub-Saharan Africa have closed schools to prevent further spread of the virus.
According to GSMA’s 2019 Mobile Economy Report, there are over 456 million unique mobile subscribers in sub-Saharan Africa, and this number will grow to 623 million by 2025.
